Loving the holidays

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have all had some time off to spend with family and friends. I had a wonderful Christmas with our family coming over for lunch and we all had a great time.

The holidays have given me plenty of time to peruse the internet looking for inspiration but most importantly I have had time to sit and spend time making cards. Here are just a couple of cards I have made recently.

Hopefully by the time I have to go back to Uni this year I will have a bit of a collection happening so I don't have to buy cards like I have had to for the last 2 years.

I finally had some time to make some cards. A month ago I went to Stamp Camp all organisedby the wonderful Marelle and I think I rediscovered card making. It was such a wonderful two nights away where all I had to do was cardmaking. There were plenty of really lovely shoebox swaps to do and the food was awesome. I have already started saving to go next year!

In the last 2 years cardmaking has felt like one more chore I had to do, but finally I am enjoying it again.

Anyway here are some cards I made whilst I was at camp...

I made this card today for my nephew who turns 3 tomorrow. It did not quite turn out as I wanted it to but all he will see is Littlefoot, Cera, Chomper and Pietre from the Land Before Time. He would sit and watch the Land Before Time movies one after the other if you let him.

Hope to do some more cards this weekend as I think I will have the house to myself for a day or two.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #98

I finally found some time to sit down and make my first card of 2010. I have to go back to work tomorrow after having a lovely 4 weeks of holidays. Only back for 2 weeks though before 1 more week off when the kids go back to school. Then probably back at work for 1 or 2 more weeks then off to Uni, which is a bit scary. This year I plan on doing a few more challenges to help get my creative juices flowing again.

I took this sketch from the Taylored Expressions blog and added a technique with ribbon Kristina Werner used on one of her January year in cards and came up with this Birthday card for my sister who turned 25 today. My lovely husband brought me a Cuttlebug and heaps of embossing folders for Christmas, and after finishing this card I remembered I had it and wished I had of used it on the pink background.

Lost Mojo

I have been a bad blogger but I have not had 5 minutes to make a card to show you. I have been busy keeping the kids occupied and trying to fill out all the forms to go to Uni including the scholarship form which is killing me, got to finish it today and express post it to Canberra. Anyway on to the cards. My sister asked me to make a card for a wedding she was attending in Brisbane, making me get out my supplies. The problem was I had lost my mojo and I always find it hard to make a card for someone I don't know. In the end I found some cards on some wonderful blogs I visit all the time and I cased them.

This card was cased from this card on Kristina Werner's blog. This is the one my sister decided to use.Sorry about the photography no matter how I photograph Elegant Eggplant it never turns out nice.

I just wish I was half as talented as these girls and I may be able to give up the day job!

Spring mini- Uncharted Territory

I was so excited when I seen the new mini catalogue and put in my pre-order straight away. This set was one that I was tossing up whether to buy or not, in the end I added it to my order, and I am really happy that I did. The best thing about this card is that it took under 10 minutes to make.

Mojo Monday #94

I cannot believe I am posting this before Mr Linky closes over at the Mojo Monday blog. It will be a first but hopefully will not be a last. I have had a little bit of time this week to do some stamping as I have had the dreaded flu, but after some antibiotics and lots of rest (time off work) I am now feeling much better.

I received my first Tilda stamps last week and I have been busy trying to watercolour them. I was so excited when they finally came! I now have a stack of water coloured Tilda's to use on some cards.

Verve sketch challenge- Stamp Out Alzheimer's

I am such a bad blogger. I created this space to make me take some more time to do the things I love to do and it is just not happening. I made this card a couple of weeks ago for the Stamp Out Alzheimer's event, Verve sketch challenge.

I have a few new stamps coming hopefully this week and I can't wait. I have some plans to get some crafty time in this week, be it cardmaking, scrapbooking or jewellery making. (I might just have to get a cleaner, babysitter, cook, someone to fill in for me at work for the week but somehow I will do it.)

A Catalogue Challenge! by Marelle

Marelle Taylor put a Catalogue Challenge on her blog at the beginning of the month so I gave it a go. My first card I will show you did not work out as closely to the original as I had hoped. I still really like it but was not sure if it would cut it for the challenge.

Here is my card(please forgive me for the quality of the photo, we have not seen the sun for more than 5 minutes at a time and even with 2 new lamps and bulbs it still does not look great, it is really pretty in real life). The colours are Pink Pirouette and Close to Cocoa.

Added: The brown shadow around the elephant was done by inking the entire stamp in Pink Pirouette a few times and then using the close to cocoa marker just to draw around the edges, the ears and the eye. I had a couple of attempts and the wetter the stamp looked the more bleeding there was by the brown.

Thanks for the challenge Marelle, I really enjoyed it!

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge 69

I can't believe the weekend is almost over! I had all these well thought out plans for lots of card making this weekend but it is now Sunday afternoon and I have only made one card.

I saw this sketch on the Taylored Expressions blog for cupcake Friday and loved it.

So I thought I would give it a go. Here is my version:

I used the Faux Woodgrain technique Marelle Taylor demonstrated last weekend, it is so easy but looks really great as a background on masculine cards. The heart was made by simply making 2 cuts into a scalloped circle. The shape around the truck was cut with my Cricut using Sure Cuts Alot and the Kristina Werner Journaling Shapes 1 Designer Cuts, from Two Peas.

My husband is away for 5 months with work and it is his birthday in a couple of weeks so I will be sending this to him, hope he likes it.

Love this Set

Since I showed my MIL's card in my last post I thought I would share with you two of the other cards I made for Mother's Day. They show how different this set looks when it is in done in a range of colours.
This one was made for my mum:

This one was for my husbands Nan, to accommodate the large squares the card had to be a bit bigger than normal.

Hi Everyone, finally I have a card to add to my new blog. I started my papercraft journey as a scrapbooker about 7 years ago, but had never stamped until I went to a craft show in Sydney, in 2007. It was here that I met the lovely Marelle, who is now my upline, and I entered the competition they were running on the day. I WON!!! I went home and put my stamps together and have not looked back since. In 2008 I 'ummed and ahhed' about joining up with Stampin' Up but eventually I realised I had spent so much money that I may as well be my own best customer. (I think I am addicted!)

Anyway here is a card I made for my Mother In Law for Mother's day.
